Maytag washers share Whirlpool's control platform, so the codes look similar. Here's what each one means and how to clear it.
F21
Means: Long drain — draining is taking too long.
Fix: Clean the pump filter and check the drain hose for clogs and kinks. Slow drainage that never clears points to a failing pump.

Means: Overloaded — too much laundry for the drum to handle.
Fix: Remove some items and restart. Overloading also causes uL during spin.
uL
Means: Unbalanced load.
Fix: Redistribute the load evenly and confirm the machine is level.
Sd / Sud
Means: Excess suds.
Fix: Use less HE detergent. Run an extra rinse to clear foam before restarting.
LF / F30
Means: Long fill — not enough water entering in time.
Fix: Open both taps fully, clear the inlet screens, and check for low household water pressure.

Means: Door/lid won't lock.
Fix: Reset by cutting power for a minute; a worn lid-lock assembly is the common repeat cause.
F7E1
Means: Motor speed sensing fault.
Fix: Reduce the load and reset. A recurring F7E1 usually needs a technician to check the motor and control.
