Why an LG washer stops draining
In order of likelihood:
- Clogged drain pump filter: lint, coins and hair collect here first — the #1 cause.
- Kinked or clogged drain hose: pushed too far into the standpipe or bent behind the machine.
- Blocked household standpipe: backed-up water reads as a slow drain.
- Failing drain pump: if filter and hose are clear, the impeller or motor may be worn.
Fix it in 6 steps
- Turn off and unplug the washer; have towels ready.
- Open the small pump-filter door at the lower-right front.
- Slowly unscrew the filter cap to drain water, then pull the filter and clear debris.
- Check the cavity for stuck objects, rinse the filter under a tap.
- Pull the machine out and straighten or unclog the drain hose.
- Refit and run a rinse/spin to confirm it drains.
