LG Washer Error Codes
LG washers display a short code when something interrupts the cycle. Find yours below with the meaning and the first thing to check.
OE
Means: Drain error — the washer can't drain within the expected time.
Fix: Clean the drain pump filter (bottom-front flap), and check the drain hose isn't clogged, kinked, or inserted too far into the standpipe.
UE / uE
Means: Unbalanced load — the drum can't balance to spin.
Fix: Redistribute clothes; wash a single bulky item with a few smaller ones. Confirm the washer is level.
IE
Means: Inlet / water-fill error.
Fix: Make sure both taps are open, hoses aren't kinked, and the inlet filter screens are clean. Low water pressure also causes IE.
dE / dE1 / dE2
Means: Door not closed or locked.
Fix: Close the door firmly. If it won't lock, inspect the latch and door strike for damage.
LE
Means: Motor locked / overload.
Fix: Reduce the load size and reset by unplugging for a minute. A repeating LE can indicate a failing hall sensor or motor.
PE
Means: Water-level sensor (pressure switch) fault.
Fix: Unplug to reset; if it persists the pressure sensor or its hose needs attention.
FE
Means: Overfill — too much water in the drum.
Fix: Turn off and unplug. A stuck inlet valve is the usual cause and generally needs replacement.
CL
Means: Child Lock is on — not a fault.
Fix: Press and hold the Child Lock button (often the two keys marked with a lock icon) for 3 seconds to turn it off.

What does OE mean on an LG washer?
OE is a drain error. Water isn't leaving the drum fast enough — clean the pump filter and clear the drain hose. It's the single most common LG washer code.
Is CL an error on an LG washer?
No. CL means Child Lock is active. Hold the Child Lock button for about 3 seconds to disable it and regain the controls.
